Sensitivity Labels are available to protect important information in your documents, emails, and files. Labels inform recipients of the confidentiality level of the information contained in the document/email. Highly sensitive information such as SSNs will be further protected by encrypting the document/email and restricting access to them.

To apply a sensitivity label in a Word/Excel/Office application:

When you open a document, the Sensitivity Label option is under the Home tab. (If this is greyed out on your document, please contact ITS to enable it for your account.)

To apply a sensitivity label to an Email:

Click on New Email. Once opened, the Sensitivity Label option is available.
